Dispute Resolution Methods

Mediation and collaborative law provide a non-adversarial atmosphere for the resolution of family disputes.

Mediation can narrow issues for settlement or trial, and ideally create a climate of goodwill and compromise, which often goes a long way to settling disputes.  It can benefit couples before, during and after litigation, or as an alternative to the courts.

Collaborative law tailors the dispute process to the needs of the parties.  It allows the parties to create the best possible agreement they themselves can achieve.  It avoids litigation and encourages settlement.

Arbitration may be the answer to the ever increasing inability of the courts to deal promptly and cost effectively, with family disputes.

Litigation can be expensive and yet it may be the only way to resolve some disputes.
